Nigerian midfielder Quadri Liameed has been discharged from a hospital in Spain after medical tests ruled out serious injuries sustained during a match. The 24-year-old player for Sabadell was struck in the head by Albacete defender José Corpas during the 43rd minute of their encounter at the Carlos Belmonte Stadium.
Liameed initially lost consciousness following the incident, which prompted an immediate medical response and his removal from the pitch. Although he later regained consciousness, the severity of the blow raised significant concerns among his teammates, club officials, and football supporters, leading to his transport to a hospital for comprehensive examinations.
Sabadell confirmed on its official X account that the midfielder received medical clearance shortly after midnight following reassuring test results. The club stated, “The best of the news has arrived! @Qlimeed has received medical discharge after all the tests have come out well and will return tonight to Sabadell!”
“We want to thank the medical services of @AlbaceteBPSAD for the help received at all times.”
According to reports, the concussion protocol was deactivated after the examinations ruled out any injury, meaning Liameed did not need to remain under observation overnight. He returned to Sabadell by car, accompanied by a member of the club’s medical staff, and went home to rest.
The incident occurred when Corpas attempted to reach the ball and struck Liameed in the head with his boot. Liameed is expected to follow a specialised training programme over the next few days before fully rejoining his teammates.
