Akintunde Sawyerr, the managing director of the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), has appealed to former students of Igbobi College for increased assistance to upgrade the school’s infrastructure.
Sawyerr’s call comes as part of broader efforts to address the ageing facilities at the historic Lagos‑based secondary school, which was founded in 1932 and has produced many of the nation’s leaders.
He emphasized that alumni contributions are essential for renovating classrooms, laboratories and other critical amenities that support the college’s educational mission.
NELFUND, a government‑backed agency that provides student loans and financial support for tertiary education, often collaborates with institutions and stakeholders to improve learning environments across Nigeria.
The MD urged the Igbobi College alumni network to mobilise resources and partner with the school administration, noting that such support would directly benefit current and future students.
