National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Chairman Mohamed Marwa has announced a concerted campaign against drug abuse and trafficking in Edo State, calling on all relevant stakeholders to join the effort.

Marwa said the agency will step up enforcement actions, seize illicit substances and work closely with law‑enforcement bodies, community groups and other partners to curb the flow of narcotics in the state.

The declaration comes amid ongoing concerns about the rise of drug misuse and the role of parts of southern Nigeria, including Edo, as transit points for illegal drugs.

He urged government officials, traditional and religious leaders, schools, families and civil‑society organisations to collaborate in the fight, stressing that drug abuse threatens public health, safety and the social fabric.

The NDLEA pledged to increase public awareness programmes and strengthen coordination with Edo State authorities to reduce the availability and consumption of illicit drugs.
