Moses Adebisi, the presidential candidate of Nigeria’s Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA), has affirmed that he will remain on the ballot for the 2027 presidential election despite a growing internal crisis within the party over leadership disputes and funding shortfalls.
The DLA, a minor opposition party, is currently grappling with disagreements among its senior officials regarding who should steer the party and how limited financial resources will be allocated for the upcoming campaign. Party insiders say the turmoil has hampered preparations for the national election.
"I am committed to contesting the 2027 election, regardless of the challenges our party faces," Adebisi said.
Nigeria’s presidential elections are held every four years, with the next vote scheduled for early 2027. The country’s political landscape typically sees fierce competition among several parties, and internal cohesion is considered crucial for mounting an effective nationwide campaign.
Analysts note that while internal disputes are not uncommon in Nigerian parties, they can affect voter perception and the ability to mobilise resources. Adebisi’s pledge to run signals the DLA’s intention to stay in the contest, even as it works to resolve its leadership and funding issues.
