Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara pledged the state’s backing for President Bola Tinubu’s bid for a second term in the 2027 presidential election, saying the people will repay the president’s earlier assistance during a political crisis in the state. The statement was posted on the governor’s X account on Saturday, following Tinubu’s visit to Rivers for an All Progressives Congress (APC) South‑South campaign rally.
During the rally, Tinubu addressed supporters in Port Harcourt and highlighted the APC’s agenda for the South‑South region. The event was part of the president’s nationwide outreach ahead of the 2027 election cycle.
“Rivers State has not forgotten your support in our most challenging moments. As you stood with us, we are ready to stand firmly with you as you seek a renewed mandate in 2027,” Governor Fubara wrote.
Fubara also thanked Tinubu for his “intervention and commitment to restoring peace, stability and development” in Rivers State, noting that his administration remains focused on building a “peaceful, stronger and more prosperous Nigeria.”
Reaffirming the political alliance, the governor concluded, “Rivers State is with you, Mr President!” as the APC prepares for the next electoral contest, with Tinubu’s current term set to end in 2027.
