A pupil opened fire at a school in France, wounding two people before police arrived and took the suspect into custody, officials said.
The shooter had hidden a hunting shotgun inside a guitar case, a detail revealed by authorities after the incident.
According to school officials, a staff member was able to disarm the pupil and secure the weapon before police entered the premises.
Police arrived on the scene shortly thereafter, detained the student and began an investigation into the motives and circumstances surrounding the attack.
The two injured victims were taken for medical treatment; their conditions have not been disclosed.
School shootings are relatively rare in France, and the incident has prompted renewed calls for heightened security measures in educational institutions.
