The governor of Cameroon's West region has urged residents to remain vigilant as heavy rainfall is forecast across the area until 30 September 2026, raising the risk of flooding.
In a public statement, the governor warned that the expected downpours could affect several departments within the region, calling on communities to stay alert and follow any instructions issued by local authorities.
Authorities have asked the population to monitor weather updates, avoid low‑lying areas prone to water accumulation, and be prepared to act quickly if flood warnings are issued.
The West region, located in the central part of Cameroon, is known for its hilly terrain and agricultural activity. Seasonal rains are a regular feature, but unusually intense precipitation can trigger flash floods and landslides that threaten lives and property.
Government officials said that emergency services and civil protection agencies are on standby to respond to any incidents, and they encourage citizens to cooperate with relief efforts should the need arise.
