Liam Delap netted a brace as Nottingham Forest defeated Manchester City 3-1 on Saturday, delivering the visitors’ first home Premier League win of the campaign.
Delap’s two goals accounted for the majority of Forest’s tally, while the home side added a further strike to secure a three‑goal advantage. Manchester City managed a consolation goal, but could not overturn the deficit.
The victory was described as “memorable” for Forest, who had struggled to win at home earlier in the season. The three‑point haul moves them up the table and provides a boost ahead of upcoming fixtures.
Manchester City, the reigning English champions, entered the match as clear favorites, making Forest’s triumph an upset in the context of the Premier League’s competitive hierarchy.
The result underscores the unpredictable nature of England’s top‑flight football, where lower‑ranked clubs can still challenge and overcome the league’s elite on any given day.
