Nottingham Forest secured a 3‑1 victory over Manchester City at the City Ground on Saturday, with Liam Delap netting a double that lifted Forest out of the relegation zone and handed City their third consecutive Premier League defeat.

Forest opened the scoring within the first 20 minutes when Jair Cunha intercepted a pass from Josko Gvardiol and slotted past Gianluigi Donnarumma. Minutes later, Delap added a second, finishing a move that began with Xaver Schlager’s run from his own half. The goal marked Forest’s first home strike in 511 minutes and prompted owner Evangelos Marinakis to leap from his seat in celebration.

Manchester City responded through Rayan Cherki, who fired home a strike from a Jeremy Doku deflected cross, halving the deficit. A near‑equaliser from Erling Haaland saw his shot sail just wide. Manager Pep Maresca made a double substitution at half‑time, bringing on Nico O’Reilly and Matheus Nunes, which sparked a brief City rally.

The decisive blow came fifteen minutes from the end when Morgan Gibbs‑White set up Delap for his second goal of the night, this time a left‑foot finish past a helpless Donnarumma. The strike completed Delap’s brace and gave Forest their second win of the season, a notable milestone after his £50 million move from Chelsea.

The loss leaves City six points behind league leaders Arsenal and still without a home goal this season. The club also faces a severe points penalty after being found guilty of over 100 Premier League financial‑rule breaches, pending an appeal. Forest’s win also pushes Manchester United into the relegation zone ahead of their upcoming clash with Aston Villa.
