Cross River Governor Bassey Otu announced on Monday that the state will vote massively for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections, speaking at an APC rally in Calabar.

Otu urged residents to support Tinubu and all APC candidates, saying Cross River is ready to scale up votes to realise Tinubu’s second‑term bid. He cited the positive impact of the Tinubu‑led administration on the state as the reason for the call.

He described Cross River as an emerging investment destination, noting improvements in economic activities, productivity and infrastructure. Otu said that voting APC would help implement government policies and development programmes.

APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda also spoke at the rally, calling Tinubu a transformational leader and outlining the administration’s economic vision, including a one‑trillion‑dollar economy by 2030 and major infrastructure projects such as the Calabar Port deep seaport and the Lagos‑Calabar Coastal Highway.

Yilwatda highlighted rail and road links connecting Calabar to other parts of the country, noting that these projects would open the South‑South region to greater commercial opportunities, create jobs, stimulate industrial growth and reduce poverty.

The rally also drew other state governors, including Monday Okpebholo of Edo, Douye Diri of Bayelsa and Omo Eno of Akwa Ibom, who attended the event.
