Isaac Fayose, a Nigerian businessman and social commentator, has accused President Bola Tinubu of suffering health problems that may be preventing him from walking, after the president announced he would not attend every campaign event ahead of the 2027 general election.

On Wednesday, Tinubu, who heads the All Progressives Congress (APC), revealed that he would not accompany the party’s Presidential Campaign Council to all campaign venues. He said the decision was driven by a need to prioritise governance, meet economic commitments and attract investors to the country.

“This government is the worst in the history of Nigeria. Now they don’t even want to go for campaign, they said they want to concentrate on governance,” Fayose said in a video posted to his official Facebook page. “Governance that they abandoned and went to stay in Paris? Baba has spent almost 300 days outside the country since he assumed office. Now that you need to campaign and beg for votes, you said you want to concentrate. That’s to tell you that Baba is not strong. Baba no fit waka. And you know that African leaders don’t respect themselves. Look at America, Joe Biden said his health can’t carry it and he dropped.”

Fayose’s remarks suggest that Tinubu’s limited travel is a sign of physical weakness. He also criticised the president’s overseas absences, noting that Tinubu has spent nearly 300 days abroad since taking office.

The claims remain unverified, and no official statement has confirmed any health issues for President Tinubu. The 2027 election campaign is set to continue with the APC’s leadership structure in place, while the president’s focus on governance and economic priorities has been highlighted by his own spokespersons.
