Yemeni government forces, backed by a Saudi-led coalition, said they are advancing against the Iran‑aligned Houthi rebels and claimed to have killed 1,150 Houthis in operations over the past 24 hours.

The statement was issued by officials of the Yemeni military, who described the recent fighting as part of a broader offensive to push Houthi fighters out of key territories in the war‑torn country.

The conflict, which erupted in 2014 when Houthi rebels seized the capital Sana’a, has pitted the internationally recognised government, supported by Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states, against the Houthi movement, which receives political backing from Iran.

“1,150 Houthis killed in operations against the Iran‑aligned group over the past 24 hours,” the government forces said.

Independent observers have not yet verified the casualty figures, and both sides in the war have historically provided conflicting reports on losses. The fighting continues to exacerbate an already dire humanitarian situation, with civilians facing displacement, food insecurity and limited access to health services across Yemen.
