A Wizz Air flight that departed from Luton Airport was forced to make an emergency landing in Budapest after a bomb threat was reported while the aircraft was in the air, officials said.
The threat was received mid‑flight, prompting the airline to coordinate with Hungarian authorities. In response, a Hungarian Air Force fighter jet was scrambled to escort the aircraft to the capital.
The fighter jet accompanied the plane to Budapest Airport, where it landed safely. No injuries were reported and the aircraft was inspected after arrival.
Wizz Air, a low‑cost carrier headquartered in Hungary, said it was cooperating fully with police and security services following the incident.
Hungarian officials did not provide further details about the nature of the threat or any ongoing investigation.
