Princewill Dike, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has described the November 5, 2026 media parley hosted by Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike as a crucial opportunity to clarify significant political developments in Rivers State and across Nigeria. Speaking from Port Harcourt, Dike, a supporter of Wike’s political family, stated that the interaction with journalists addressed key issues including the Rainbow Coalition, the political future of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and ongoing controversies involving former and current political leaders.

Dike explained that Wike’s remarks on the Rainbow Coalition clarified that the initiative is designed to unite political actors from different party affiliations to pursue common objectives while allowing participants to retain their individual political identities. The APC chieftain noted that this initiative has become a subject of national discussion as Nigerians assess emerging political alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections. He emphasized that Wike’s comments highlighted the changing nature of political relationships in Nigeria, where cooperation on specific national objectives may transcend traditional party lines.

Regarding interpersonal political dynamics, Dike said Wike’s clarification on his relationship with former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha was relevant to the broader discourse on political friendship and disagreement. Dike stressed that political differences among associates should not be automatically interpreted as personal hostility. Additionally, concerning the Federal High Court judgment regarding the APC senatorial contest in Imo West, Dike noted Wike’s denial of involvement, urging that judicial decisions be examined on their legal merits without attributing responsibility to individuals without established evidence.

In the context of Rivers State politics, Dike highlighted Wike’s statement that Governor Fubara remains politically relevant and is an active participant in the Rainbow Coalition. “The clarification is significant to the people of the state,” Dike said, adding that political reconciliation and mutual understanding are vital in the state’s evolving political environment. He further stressed the importance of democratic tolerance and freedom of political association, noting that disagreements should not undermine the rights and legitimate interests of citizens.

“I commend Wike for calling on Amaechi to render account of stewardship when he was Governor and later super Minister under the Buhari administration. As a super Minister, what did Amaechi attract to Rivers, unlike Wike who has many things to point to that he brought to Rivers State as a Minister,” Dike said.

Dike addressed allegations raised by Wike against former Rivers State Governor Chibuike Amaechi concerning expenditure on fumigation, a proposed general hospital, and a gas turbine project. He described these issues as too weighty to be dismissed as mere political exchanges, urging Amaechi to come forward with records and verifiable facts to defend his administration’s performance. Dike maintained that accountability is an essential obligation of democratic leadership rather than political persecution, and that the public deserves a fact-based examination of competing claims involving public funds.

Concluding his remarks, Dike urged political stakeholders in Rivers State and other parts of the country to approach emerging issues with maturity, restraint, and respect for democratic institutions. He reaffirmed his support for Wike’s political family, emphasizing that political participation should be guided by conviction and constructive public engagement, with the interests of Rivers people remaining central to conversations on infrastructure, security, and general welfare.
