Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike announced on Friday that he will personally lead the re‑election campaign for President Bola Tinubu in both the FCT and Rivers State ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.
Wike made the statement in Chikuku, Abuja, after completing an inspection of Phase II of the Kuje‑Gwagwalada road dualisation project, a key infrastructure initiative under the current administration.
He said political structures supporting the president are already being mobilised and that he will soon inaugurate dedicated campaign teams for the two jurisdictions. “The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is putting itself together for an aggressive campaign,” Wike told reporters.
“For us who are supporting Mr President from different political platforms, we have put our machinery ready to fully kick start. Very soon, I will inaugurate the campaign team for Tinubu in the FCT and Rivers State, which I will lead. All elements of the APC are ready, Mr President is ready, we are ready and you can see the enthusiasm,” he said.
Wike argued that the administration’s performance, especially visible infrastructure projects such as road construction, is generating public satisfaction that will translate into electoral support for Tinubu. He also linked this goodwill to anticipated votes for other APC candidates in the FCT, including former Senator Philip Aduda and the two contenders for the territory’s House of Representatives seats.
