On Friday, the New Jersey Devils acquired goaltender Connor Hellebuyck from the Winnipeg Jets in a trade that sent Jalen Mercer, Bjugstad, Command and Daws to the Jets.
The deal, announced during the off‑season, sees the Devils add a seasoned netminder to their roster while the Jets receive a package of prospects and a draft pick to aid in their rebuild.
Hellebuyck, who has spent the bulk of his career with the Jets, brings veteran presence and experience to New Jersey’s goaltending depth chart.
In return, the Jets gain Jalen Mercer, Bjugstad, Command and Daws, all of whom are considered prospects with potential upside for the franchise’s future.
The trade is expected to reshape the goaltending landscape for the Devils and provide the Jets with new building blocks as they look to reconfigure their lineup for the coming season.
