Four astronauts from NASA, the Canadian Space Agency, and Russia’s Roscosmos are set to launch aboard the SpaceX Crew-13 mission to the International Space Station (ISS). The mission is set to launch on October 28th, 2021, from Cape Canaveral, Florida.
Meet the Crew-13 Mission Members
- NASA astronaut Jessica Watkins, who will serve as the mission’s pilot, holds a bachelor's degree in geology from the University of Colorado and a master's degree in astronaut training from the Johnson Space Center.
- NASA astronaut Luke Delaney will serve as the mission's commander, holding a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Florida and a master's degree in astronaut training from Johnson Space Center.
- Roscosmos cosmonaut Sergei Teteryatnikov, who is a mission specialist, holds a bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering from Moscow State University and a master's degree in astronaut training from Johnson Space Center.
- Canadian Space Agency astronaut Joshua Kutryk will serve as the mission's mission specialist, holding a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Waterloo and a master's degree in astronaut training from Johnson Space Center.
SpaceX Crew-13 Mission Details
The SpaceX Crew-13 mission will embark on a 6-month mission to the ISS, during which they will conduct research, technology demonstrations, and maintenance tasks.
The crew will spend approximately 6 months on the ISS, carrying out research projects, including studying heart disease, Parkinson’s disease, crop production, and human factors.
The mission is the 13th crew rotation for NASA, the Canadian Space Agency, and Roscosmos, marking the first time the three agencies have collaborated on a mission to the ISS.
SpaceX Crew-13 Mission Schedule
The mission is scheduled to launch on October 28th, 2021, from Cape Canaveral, Florida, aboard the SpaceX Crew-13 capsule.
Upon arrival at the ISS, the crew will spend approximately six months conducting research, technology demonstrations, and maintenance tasks.

SpaceX Crew-13 Mission Roles
Sergey Teteryatnikov, a Roscosmos cosmonaut, will serve as a mission specialist, having previously flown to the ISS in 2019 on Soyuz mission.
Joshua Kutryk, a Canadian Space Agency astronaut, will serve as a mission specialist, having flown to the ISS in 2020 on a CSTS-15 mission.
Luke Delaney, a NASA astronaut, will serve as the mission commander, having flown to the ISS in 2019 on a CSTS-15 mission.
Jessica Watkins, a NASA astronaut, will serve as the mission pilot, having flown to the ISS in 2020 on a CSTS-15 mission.
SpaceX Crew-13 Mission Objectives
