The Niger State Government has announced that it is deploying resources to rescue 15 pupils from the Islamiya school who were abducted by bandits over the weekend.
Government officials said they are mobilising personnel and equipment to secure the children’s release, but the exact nature of the operation has not yet been disclosed.
However, the proprietor of the Islamiya school has warned that no concrete steps have been taken on the ground, expressing concern that the rescue effort may not yet be underway.
The abduction took place in Niger State, a region in Nigeria that has faced increasing security challenges in recent months. The school, which serves local communities, reported the incident to authorities immediately after the children went missing.
Both the government and the school are awaiting further developments as the situation remains fluid, with officials urging calm and cooperation from the community while they work to bring the abducted pupils home safely.
