President Donald Trump insulted a Reuters journalist during a brief exchange on the campaign trail, calling the reporter “disgusting” after the questioner asked why the president was skipping a scheduled rally in Kansas.
The incident took place on Saturday as Trump was preparing to travel to a campaign event for Republican Senator Roger Marshall, who is fighting for re‑election in a closely contested race. The reporter had asked the president why he no longer planned to attend the rally.
“Disgusting,” Trump replied, before moving on to other matters.
Marshall’s campaign has been described as competitive, with the senator’s seat attracting significant attention from both parties. The Kansas rally was part of the broader effort to secure support in the state ahead of the upcoming election cycle.
Trump’s remark was captured by the Reuters crew and has since been reported by PBS NewsHour, highlighting the tense atmosphere that often accompanies presidential campaign stops.
