In a live debate in Iowa, Democratic state representative Lindsay James faced off against former state representative Joe Mitchell, the Republican nominee, in a contest to become the next member of Congress for the state’s 2nd Congressional District.
The two candidates are vying for the seat that will replace Hinson, whose name is currently associated with the district’s representation. The debate is part of the campaign’s final push ahead of the upcoming election.
James, a member of the Iowa House of Representatives, has campaigned on a platform that emphasizes local issues and progressive policies. Mitchell, who previously served in the state legislature, is presenting a conservative agenda aimed at addressing economic and national security concerns.
Both candidates highlighted their experience in state government and their plans to bring that experience to Washington. The debate was broadcast live, allowing voters across the district to hear each candidate’s positions directly.
The outcome of the race will determine who will represent Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives, a seat that has attracted significant attention from both parties in recent years.
