President Donald Trump delivered his final campaign pitch before the upcoming midterm elections on Monday at the Reflecting Pool in Washington, D.C., a site currently undergoing a renovation that has been described as embarrassing and contentious.
Speaking to a crowd of supporters gathered near the historic pool, Trump urged his “Make America Great Again” base to turn out in the November elections, emphasizing the Republican Party’s goal of retaining control of Congress.
Rather than traveling to key swing states, the former president chose to remain in the capital for the event, a decision that contrasts with the typical campaign strategy of visiting battleground regions in the weeks leading up to the vote.
The Reflecting Pool renovation, part of a broader effort to revitalize the National Mall, has drawn criticism for its delays and design disputes, prompting officials to label the project as both embarrassing and contentious.
Trump’s appearance at the site highlights his continued influence within the GOP as the party mobilizes for the midterm contests, while the renovation controversy remains a point of public and media scrutiny.
