President Donald Trump is set to award the National Medal of Science to entrepreneur Elon Musk on Thursday, as part of a ceremony that will present several of the nation’s highest science and technology honors.
The National Medal of Science is one of the United States’ most prestigious awards for scientific achievement. It recognises individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the advancement of knowledge in the physical, biological, mathematical, or engineering sciences.
Musk, the former chief of the cryptocurrency DOGE and the founder of companies such as SpaceX and Tesla, will be among the recipients of the medal. The announcement comes as part of a broader effort to celebrate leaders in technology and innovation.
In addition to the National Medal of Science, the ceremony will honour other technology executives with top scientific awards, though the identities of those recipients have not yet been disclosed.
The awards are expected to highlight the intersection of science, engineering and entrepreneurship in driving national progress.
