Republican Chris McGowan and Democrat Dave Dawson will face each other in a live debate on Wednesday as they vie for Iowa’s 4th Congressional District seat, which is being vacated by Rep. Randy Feenstra.
The debate, scheduled for mid‑day, will be the first direct, face‑to‑face contest between the two candidates in the race to succeed Feenstra in the U.S. House of Representatives.
McGowan, the Republican contender, has emphasized his alignment with the district’s traditionally conservative values, while Dawson, the Democratic challenger, has highlighted his focus on economic development and healthcare access for the largely rural constituency.
Iowa’s 4th district, encompassing the northwestern portion of the state, has been a Republican stronghold in recent elections, making the open seat a focal point for both parties as they seek to shape the district’s future representation in Washington.
The debate will be streamed live, allowing voters across the district to assess each candidate’s positions on key issues ahead of the November election.
