German automaker Volkswagen announced that it aims to export at least 300,000 vehicles built in China each year by 2030, and to ship locally developed technologies alongside the cars.
The company said the target is part of a broader strategy to tap the scale and cost advantages of its Chinese manufacturing base while leveraging the country’s growing expertise in automotive technology.
China is the world’s largest car market and a major production hub, giving manufacturers like Volkswagen access to extensive supply chains and a skilled workforce that can support high‑volume output.
Exporting Chinese‑made vehicles is expected to strengthen Volkswagen’s global footprint, including in regions such as Africa where the brand already operates a network of sales and service facilities.
By 2030, Volkswagen hopes the initiative will demonstrate the integration of production and innovation across its worldwide operations, reinforcing its position among the leading global carmakers.
