Atletico Madrid were beaten 2‑0 by Bayern Munich in the Champions League, with the German side taking all three points after goals from Lennart Karl in the 54th minute and Konrad Laimer in the 74th.

Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman was introduced in the 60th minute, replacing Alexander Sørloth, as Diego Simeone sought to add firepower to the attack. Lookman managed only 20 touches and did not register a shot on goal during the remainder of the match.

“Lacking confidence, he couldn't manage a single dribble and barely contributed in a few runs down the left,” Jesus Colino said in his player ratings for the Spanish media outlet AS.

Lookman’s performance was a departure from earlier Champions League outings, where he had scored against Manchester United and supplied an assist in Atletico’s 1‑1 draw with Stuttgart.

Despite the criticism, the former Atalanta striker is still expected to remain in contention for a place in Nigeria’s Super Eagles squad for the 2026 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Tanzania.
