Turkish football pundit Emre Bol said that Victor Osimhen’s goal‑scoring exploits have been masking Galatasaray’s underlying weaknesses, a situation that became apparent after the Nigerian forward missed the club’s last three fixtures across all competitions.
Osimhen, who had found the net in each of Galatasaray’s first four Super Lig matches of the current season, helped the champions drop only two points in those opening games – a draw with Çorum FK and victories over Erzurumspor FK, Göztepe and Başakşehir. During that period the team appeared strong, bolstered by his contributions.
Bol emphasized the scale of Osimhen’s impact, quoting him as saying, “Osimhen is coming, and you know what he’ll do again? He’ll sweep all of Galatasaray’s problems under the rug. That’s the kind of guy Osimhen is. Through the goals he contributed and the quality he demonstrated, he single‑handedly sustained the team in so many games.”
In Osimhen’s absence, Galatasaray suffered two defeats, including a decisive 4‑0 loss to Trabzonspor on Saturday, prompting Bol to note that the gap in the squad’s quality had become “massive.” He added that without the striker, the team’s true capabilities were exposed.
Separately, Osimhen has been ruled out of Nigeria’s forthcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea‑Bissau, further limiting his availability for both club and country.
