Troops from Operation Fansan Yamma have rescued nine kidnapped individuals and recovered 108 livestock in Kebbi State, following a series of security operations in the Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area. The military intervention was triggered by a distress call regarding suspected bandit attacks in the Danko general area, as well as related incidents in Sabon Tunga and Binoni villages.

Captain Tamuno Siniveie, the Acting Military Information Officer, disclosed the details of the operations in a statement issued on Thursday. He explained that troops from Sector 2 received a report on November 3, 2026, alleging that suspected bandits had kidnapped residents and rustled cattle in the Danko general area. In response, the military unit immediately mobilized to the location and engaged the perpetrators, forcing them to flee and abandon their captives.

Following the initial encounter, the troops successfully rescued two victims identified as Barbuga Bawashe, 26, and Barka Dakaji, 61. The operation also resulted in the recovery of 34 cows and 74 rams that had been taken by the attackers.

In a separate but related operation conducted on the same day, soldiers rescued seven additional victims at Sabon Tunga and Binoni villages. According to the military spokesman, these individuals had been held captive for several months but managed to escape from their captors amid sustained military pressure in the region. The rescued victims were identified as Muhammad Dogonta, 60; Zakari Yahu, 32; Basara Sheu, 10; Adam Shehu, 12; Hatsat Umar, 14; Albaria Hamsu, 12; and Yehusa Lawali, 35.

Upon their rescue, all nine victims were handed over to the District Head of Unashi for the purpose of reuniting them with their families. Captain Siniveie reaffirmed the commitment of the Joint Task Force North West to protecting lives and property within its operational area. He further urged members of the public to assist security efforts by providing timely and credible information to the troops.
