On Sunday, the Nigerian Army announced that its Joint Task Force North‑East, operating under Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), had neutralised six terrorists, arrested 11 suspected collaborators and secured the surrender of a Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal‑Jihad (JAS) member in Borno State.

The operation, detailed in an operational report released to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), targeted suspected Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and JAS fighters in the Kaga and Gwoza Local Government Areas. Troops of the 29 Task Force Brigade Garrison, with support from Hybrid Force personnel, ambushed the militants along the Targejeri axis of Kaga at 12:37 a.m. on 25 October. Six terrorists were neutralised and the soldiers seized an AK‑47 rifle, three magazines and 169 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition, along with two Android phones, three button phones and charms.

In a follow‑up raid on 24 October at about 6:20 a.m. in Benisheikh, Kaga, six additional suspected collaborators were arrested, bringing the total number of suspects linked to the investigation to 11. The raid yielded an AK‑47, three empty magazines, 169 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition, three terrorist uniforms, a turban, a head mask, two Android phones, three button phones and charms. The suspects are currently under investigation to determine their alleged involvement in terrorist activities and any connections to other members of the network.

On Saturday evening, troops of the 192 Battalion (Main), supported by Hybrid Force personnel, received a JAS member who surrendered at the Hambagda Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp in Gwoza at 9:20 p.m. Preliminary investigation indicated that the individual had escaped from a terrorist enclave in the Mandara Mountains area of Gwoza and decided to abandon terrorism. He surrendered with an AK‑47 rifle and a magazine containing 28 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition and is now in custody undergoing further investigation and processing in line with established procedures.

The report emphasised that the operations are part of OPHK’s sustained, intelligence‑led campaign to disrupt terrorist activities, dismantle support networks and encourage defections. It highlighted the importance of community cooperation, urging members of the public to provide credible and timely information to security agencies to help restore peace and enable displaced communities to return safely.
