Transfer: Man Utd 'Gutted' as Real Madrid Snap Up JJ Gabriel - Paul Merson Reacts
Arsenal legend Paul Merson has expressed his disappointment over the departure of 16-year-old JJ Gabriel from Manchester United to Real Madrid.
JJ Gabriel, who has the potential to become a superstar, has reached a verbal agreement to join Real Madrid in January after leaving Manchester United earlier this season.
The teenager was initially set to make his debut for Manchester United in the Carabao Cup in September, but the club opted to delay his introduction to the first-team squad.
"This kid's a good player - a very good player. He could have been a superstar, so Manchester United will be gutted," Merson told Sky Sports.
"I think this rule's got to change. Manchester United have worked on this kid and now he’s going to Real Madrid."
Manchester United fans will be feeling the disappointment as Gabriel moves to the Spanish giants. The 16-year-old was seen as a promising talent for the Red Devils, but his departure to Real Madrid has left fans feeling let down.
