Renowned Nigerian writer Tomi Falade is heading a delegation of Nigerian authors to the 2026 Helsinki Book Fair, which will be held later this year in Helsinki, Finland. The group’s participation is intended to bring contemporary Nigerian literature to a global audience.
At the fair’s exhibition, Nigerian creatives are displaying a range of cultural products, including literary works, fine art and traditional crafts, offering visitors a multifaceted view of the country’s artistic output.
The presence of the Nigerian contingent underscores a growing effort to promote African voices at major international book events, providing writers with opportunities for networking, rights sales and cross‑cultural dialogue.
Falade, who is coordinating the delegation, said the exhibition will highlight the diversity of Nigeria’s literary and artistic scene and help forge new partnerships with publishers and cultural institutions abroad.
The Helsinki Book Fair, an annual gathering that attracts publishers, authors and readers from around the world, serves as a platform for such cultural exchange, and the inclusion of Nigerian works reflects the fair’s expanding global focus.
