The All Progressives Congress (APC) has set an ambitious target of 800,000 votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Ekiti State ahead of the 2027 presidential election. The figure, which represents roughly 90 % of the 1,080,000 votes cast in the state in 2022, was announced by Senator Abdulaziz Yari, Director‑General of the party’s Presidential Campaign Council, during a rally in Ado‑Ekiti.

Yari told the gathering that the APC had collected over 900,000 PVCs in the state and that the party was asking voters to improve on the roughly 80 % support Tinubu received in the 2022 election. “Out of 1,080,000 votes, and PVC collected over 900,000, this is my request, and by extension, of course, of the President to you. We are looking for 800,000 votes, representing about 90 %,” he said.

He highlighted the achievements of the Tinubu administration in Ekiti, citing the construction of schools, universities and roads, as well as education support for youths and women empowerment. Yari added that the state governor had earlier outlined these successes and that the president had not forgotten Ekiti.

The rally also saw representatives of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in attendance. Yari said their presence was a sign of solidarity with the governor and with Tinubu’s 2027 campaign. He promised that a heavy turnout would bring more federal presence to the state.

APC National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda spoke about the party’s candidates from the presidency down to the House of Assembly, and highlighted road projects in Ekiti, including a road from the rally venue to Akure that the president had constructed. He described Tinubu as a performer and reformer, noting the tax system reforms that exempted those earning less than 100 million Naira per year, and the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFund) that provides 20,000 Naira monthly maintenance fees to children from poor households.

Yilwatda urged Ekiti voters to turn out in large numbers for the National Assembly election on 16 January and for the House of Assembly elections in February. “Today, I present President Bola Ahmed Tinubu again for a second term. People of Ekiti, come out in your numbers on the 16th of January,” he said.
