The Institute for Industrial Technology (IIT) has called for increased investment in technical education as a primary strategy to address the challenge of youth unemployment in Nigeria.
According to the institute's director, equipping young people with practical technical skills is essential for reducing the high rates of unemployment affecting the country's demographic majority.
The statement highlights a shift in focus toward vocational and technical training as a viable alternative to traditional academic pathways, aiming to align the workforce with the demands of the industrial sector.
By prioritizing technical education, the IIT suggests that Nigeria can better utilize its youthful population to drive economic growth and reduce reliance on formal university degrees for employment opportunities.
