A warehouse security guard was killed and several motorcycles were stolen in an early‑morning raid on a storage facility in Jalingo, the capital of Taraba State, on Saturday.
The attack took place at a warehouse in Zangon Noma, behind Alhaji Yaro’s Office and close to the FastTrack Hotel. According to witnesses, the assailants entered the premises, assaulted the guard who was on duty, and fled with an unspecified number of motorcycles that were stored inside.
Police recovered the body of the deceased guard and deposited it at a mortuary while beginning an investigation to uncover the circumstances of the killing and to locate the stolen vehicles. The Police Public Relations Officer, Victor Mshelizah, confirmed that the command was aware of the incident and was already working to track and arrest those involved.
“We are aware of the incident and efforts are on the way to track and arrest those involved,” Mshelizah said.
The police have not yet released details on the number of motorcycles taken or whether any suspects have been apprehended. They have also appealed to residents for any information that could help identify and locate the perpetrators.
Local residents expressed growing concern over the safety of commercial facilities in the Zangon Noma area, noting that the killing adds to existing security worries among businesses operating in the Jalingo metropolis.
