Sudan Denies Seeking War with Ethiopia Amid Rising Tensions
General Malik Agar, deputy head of Sudan's Sovereignty Council, has stated that Sudan does not desire a war with Ethiopia despite the escalating tensions between the two countries.
Sudan has been grappling with a series of disputes with Ethiopia, particularly concerning the border and the Blue Nile and Sennar states.
"Sudan does not want a war with Ethiopia, despite the increasingly 'hostile position from Addis Abeba'," Agar said on Wednesday, referring to the Ethiopian capital.
The tensions between the two nations have been heightened due to a dispute over the border and the involvement of Ethiopian forces in the ongoing conflict in the western Sudanese region of Blue Nile.
Sudan has also accused Ethiopia of supporting rebels in the country's Darfur region, leading to further strain in relations between the two nations.
"We are committed to peaceful resolution of our issues with Ethiopia," Agar added.
