Troops of the Nigerian army’s Operation Fansan Yamma have neutralised two terrorists during a clearance operation in Sokoto state, according to a statement from the security forces.
The operation resulted in the recovery of four AK‑47 assault rifles and eight motorcycles, which authorities say were seized from the suspects.
Security officials confirmed that the weapons and vehicles were confiscated as part of the ongoing effort to disrupt armed groups operating in the north‑west region of the country.
Operation Fansan Yamma, launched in 2022, is a joint army and security initiative aimed at combating banditry and terrorism in Nigeria’s north‑west, a region that has experienced frequent attacks on communities and infrastructure.
The recent success in Sokoto underscores the continued focus of the Nigerian security apparatus on dismantling armed networks and curbing the flow of illicit weapons in the area.
