At least four people were killed and two others seriously injured when suspected armed men attacked the Godoro and Angwan‑Bisala communities in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State early on Wednesday, September 23 2026, police said.
The Niger State Police Command reported that the attackers entered the communities at about 1:30 am. Police Public Relations Officer SP Wasiu Abiodun said, “at about noon that day, four people lost their lives in the attack while two others sustained serious injuries.” Police officers visited the scene, evacuated the wounded to hospital and have begun an investigation.
“Six people were killed in the latest attack,” said Alhaji Garba Mohammed Bissalla, the village head of Tashan‑Rimi. “The victims were attacked around 1 am on Tuesday at Tashan‑Rimi, near Godoro, in an incident linked to the lingering conflict between the Fulani and Kamuku communities.”
Bissalla said the violence is part of a wider crisis that has claimed more than 165 lives and affected over 100 families, including an extended family that lost 45 members in earlier clashes. He accused the federal, state and local governments of neglecting the affected communities, noting that residents have gone for about 20 years without basic social amenities.
He alleged that Kamuku residents had obeyed Governor Mohammed Umar Bago’s directives on peaceful coexistence, while accusing Fulani attackers of continuing to threaten residents, kill people and steal livestock. The allegations could not be independently verified and there was no immediate response from the Fulani community. The police investigation into the latest attack remains ongoing.
