Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick faces a pivotal selection decision ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash with Bournemouth, as he considers whether to leave club captain Bruno Fernandes out of the matchday squad.
Carrick, who took charge of United earlier this season, must weigh the importance of the fixture against any factors that could affect Fernandes’ availability, with the game described as “crucial” for the team’s league ambitions.
United, currently competing in the English top flight, are seeking to maintain momentum in a season that has seen them vying for a strong finish, while Bournemouth aim to secure points of their own in the same competition.
The final decision on Fernandes’ involvement is expected to be made before the kickoff on Sunday, and it could have a significant impact on United’s performance in what is billed as a key encounter.
