Vice President Shettima departs for Ethiopia
Vice President Kashim Shettima left Abuja for Addis Ababa on Tuesday to head a historic government‑to‑government peer exchange aimed at accelerating nutrition delivery across Nigeria and Ethiopia.
The trip follows an invitation from Ethiopia’s Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh, who is championing the country’s multi‑sectoral approach to boosting nutrition. Shettima will attend the inaugural Nigeria‑Ethiopia Nutrition Leadership Exchange Visit, a forum designed to enable key stakeholders to share experiences of building a federal, state and local compact on nutrition.
During the visit, the Nigerian delegation will exchange lessons with Ethiopian officials on how a government‑led plan can improve nutrition delivery. The team will also tour a number of establishments that support nutrition initiatives across Ethiopia.
Scheduled stops include a wheat farm and a banana plantation in Oromia; the “Bounty of the Basket” Training Centre and household visits in Mojo; and Jabdu Motors in Bishoftu.
The delegation is led by the Vice President and is accompanied by Gov. Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, Gov. Umar Namadi of Jigawa, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning Abubakar Bagudu, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Abubakar Kyari, and Director‑General of the National Emergency Management Agency Zubaida Abubakar. Shettima is expected to return to Abuja at the end of his engagements in Addis Ababa.
