Rescue teams are searching for seven people who remain missing after a multi‑storey building under construction collapsed in Nairobi, Kenya’s capital.
The structure, still in the building phase when it buckled, fell suddenly, trapping occupants beneath the debris. Emergency services arrived at the scene to assess the damage and begin recovery operations.
Authorities have deployed a combination of fire‑fighters, police and specialist rescue personnel to locate and extract any survivors still trapped under the rubble. The effort is ongoing as crews work to clear the site safely.
Seven individuals have been reported missing in the incident, though the exact number of casualties has not yet been confirmed. Officials are urging anyone with information about the victims to come forward.
Nairobi, which has seen rapid urban expansion in recent years, continues to grapple with challenges related to construction safety and building regulation enforcement. The collapse underscores the importance of stringent oversight in fast‑growing cities.
