Head coach Jon Scheyer confirmed on Thursday that he is committed to staying at Duke University for the long term, calling the program his “dream job.”
During an offseason in which the Dallas Mavericks reportedly pursued Scheyer for their head‑coach position, the Duke coach declined the offer and reiterated his loyalty to the Blue Devils.
“Duke is my dream job, and I’m in it for the long haul,” Scheyer said, emphasizing his desire to continue building the team’s competitive legacy in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Since taking the helm, Scheyer has guided Duke through a series of successful recruiting classes and solid performances on the court, maintaining the school’s reputation as a basketball powerhouse.
He thanked the university community, players, and fans for their support and expressed excitement for the upcoming seasons ahead.
