Russian internet giant Yandex has suspended operations at one of its data centres after a drone strike, amid ongoing Ukrainian attacks on the country’s critical infrastructure.

The company, which dominates Russia’s search engine market and offers a range of online services, said the pause was necessary to assess the damage and ensure the safety of its staff and equipment.

Ukraine has intensified its campaign against Russian digital and physical infrastructure, targeting data centres, telecom towers and power plants in an effort to disrupt the country’s connectivity.

Yandex’s decision follows a series of incidents that have raised concerns about the resilience of Russia’s cyber‑security and data‑storage capabilities in the face of escalating conflict.

While the company has not disclosed the extent of the damage or the expected duration of the outage, it remains one of several Russian firms that have had to temporarily shut down facilities as a result of the drone attacks.
