Brazilian football legend Ronaldinho will return to the pitch at the age of 46 when he takes the field for Ravenna, an Italian club competing in the third tier, on Sunday, 15 November.
Ronaldinho, who won the FIFA World Cup with Brazil in 2002 and the Ballon d'Or in 2005, is widely regarded as one of the greatest players of his generation.
The announcement was made by the Nigerian news outlet Punch, which reported that the former Brazil star will make his first appearance in professional football since his retirement earlier this year.
Ravenna, which plays in Serie C – the third level of Italian football – will host the match on the scheduled date, marking a surprise comeback for the former World Cup winner.
Details of the match, including the opponent and venue, have not yet been disclosed, but the club confirmed that Ronaldinho will be part of the squad for the upcoming fixture.
