Gospel singer Tope Alabi has warned that she will take legal action against Canada‑based pastor Tayo Kumuyi, who operates under the name Pastor Tayo Ministries, after the pastor publicly linked her to the death of gospel minister Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji – popularly known as Toluwanisings – and to the deaths of other ministers.

According to the pastor’s statements, Alabi was allegedly involved in the circumstances surrounding Toluwanisings’ death, although the specific claims have not been detailed in the public record.

Alabi’s legal representatives, Oakmount Legal Practitioners, responded on 24 October 2026 with a formal cease‑and‑desist letter. The letter demanded that Pastor Kumuyi immediately stop making any further allegations that associate Alibi with the minister’s death.

Toluwanisings, whose real name was Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, was a well‑known figure in Nigeria’s gospel community. His death earlier this year sparked a wave of commentary within the religious and entertainment circles.

The threatened lawsuit underscores the sensitivity of defamation issues in Nigeria’s vibrant gospel music and ministry scene, where public figures often resort to legal channels to protect their reputations.
