Real Madrid has called for the resignation of LaLiga president Javier Tebas after the former's controversial remarks comparing the club's methods to those of Nazi propaganda chief Joseph Goebbels.
In a social‑media post, Tebas alleged that certain journalists were the “official mouthpiece” of Real Madrid, using them to repeat opinions and grievances. He wrote: “That method recalls propaganda mechanisms exploited by Goebbels, Nazi Germany’s Minister of Propaganda: systematic repetition, construction of an enemy, and subordination of facts to the narrative.”
“His constant attacks on Real Madrid and those who demand transparency and regeneration constitute, in the opinion of our club, a real scourge for Spanish football,” the club said in a lengthy statement.
Real Madrid described Tebas’ comments as “deeply offensive” and “morally repugnant,” and added that the club demands his immediate resignation as president of LaLiga and vice president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation.
LaLiga is the governing body of the Spanish football league system, and the Royal Spanish Football Federation oversees all football activities in Spain. The club’s demand follows a broader debate about transparency and governance within Spanish football.
