New York Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin will miss the remainder of the NHL season after sustaining a right‑knee injury during Friday night’s loss to the Washington Capitals.
The injury was reported as serious enough to end Shesterkin’s campaign, forcing the team to place him on the injured‑reserve list for the rest of the year.
Rangers officials confirmed that the veteran netminder will be unavailable for any further games, leaving the club to rely on its backup goaltenders as the season progresses.
Shesterkin, who has been the Rangers’ starting goaltender, has been a key figure in New York’s defensive lineup since joining the team, contributing significantly to their performance in recent seasons.
The organization will look to its depth chart to fill the void left by Shesterkin’s absence as it continues its push toward the postseason.
