The Vatican announced that Pope Leo XIV will not need any further treatment for lung cancer after a successful operation to remove the malignant tissue.

The Holy See said the surgery, which was carried out earlier this month, achieved a complete excision of the cancerous growth, allowing the pontiff to avoid additional therapies such as chemotherapy or radiation.

Medical officials attached to the Vatican’s health team confirmed that post‑operative examinations showed no residual disease, and the Pope’s recovery is proceeding as expected.

Pope Leo XIV, the leader of the worldwide Catholic Church, has been under close observation since the diagnosis was made public earlier this year. The successful outcome has been welcomed by the global Catholic community.

The Vatican’s statement did not disclose the name of the surgeon or the hospital where the procedure took place, but it emphasized that the Pope’s health remains stable and that he will continue his pastoral duties.
