After undergoing surgery this week, Pope Leo has been cleared by doctors to carry out normal activities with full independence, the Vatican said on Sunday.
The pontiff is scheduled to make a public appearance on Sunday, the first such outing since his operation. The surgery was performed to treat a cancerous growth, according to official statements.
Medical staff reported that the pope’s recovery is progressing well and that he is now able to resume routine duties without restrictions.
Details of the surgery and the specific type of cancer were not disclosed by the Vatican, but the announcement comes as part of the church’s efforts to keep the public informed about the pope’s health.
Observers note that Pope Leo’s return to public life marks a significant moment for the Catholic community, which has been closely following his condition since the operation.
