Katsina State Police Command repelled separate bandit attacks in the Kankia and Musawa Local Government Areas, rescuing three kidnapped victims and recovering 12 cows.
The police said the attacks were carried out by armed bandits who had seized livestock and abducted residents. Responding forces intercepted the assailants, freed the captives and seized the stolen cattle.
Katsina State lies in the north of Nigeria, a region that has seen a rise in banditry and cattle‑raiding incidents in recent years. Security forces routinely conduct patrols to counter such threats.
While the police did not release a statement on the motives of the attackers, the operation was praised for its swift execution and the protection it offered to local communities.
The incident highlights the ongoing security challenges faced by communities in northern Nigeria, where armed groups continue to target livestock and civilians.
