The girl, identified only by her age, was taken to a medical facility where doctors confirmed her pregnancy, estimated to be at three months. Authorities have indicated that she will receive the necessary medical and psychological support while the investigation proceeds.
Zayyanu Halilu remains in police custody pending further investigation and is expected to face charges related to rape and unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor. The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has not released additional details about the legal process at this stage.
Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city, has seen heightened police vigilance on crimes involving children. The police command urged the public to report any suspicious activity promptly, emphasizing that offenses against minors are treated with the utmost seriousness under Nigerian law.
