Thousands of demonstrators marched through the streets of London, Berlin and Rome on the anniversary of a ceasefire appeal, demanding an end to Israel’s war on Gaza. The coordinated protests were organised by pro‑Palestinian groups who used the day to highlight the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the enclave.

In London, crowds gathered near Parliament and the iconic Trafalgar Square, holding banners that read “Stop the war on Gaza” and “Ceasefire now”. Organisers estimated that several thousand people took part, chanting slogans and calling on the British government to pressure Israel for an immediate halt to hostilities.

Berlin saw a similar turnout, with demonstrators converging on the Brandenburg Gate and the Federal Chancellery. Participants marched under the slogan “Gaza needs peace” and displayed signs condemning what they described as “continuous Israeli attacks”. Police reported that the protest remained peaceful despite the large number of attendees.

In Rome, activists assembled outside the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the historic Colosseum, again demanding a ceasefire. The rally featured speeches in Italian and Arabic, and the crowd held up placards that called for international intervention to stop the violence in Gaza.

The protests come amid a broader international outcry over the conflict that erupted after Hamas militants attacked Israel in October 2023, prompting a sustained Israeli military campaign in Gaza. Organisers in the three capitals urged world leaders to use diplomatic channels to secure a ceasefire and to address the humanitarian needs of Gaza’s civilian population.
